Private Tour of Ireland

The OLM tour below is one of many we offer to our visitors. However, it is only an example and we can present other tours for you of varying duration. But, we also offer you the opportunity to 'Create Your Own Tour'. Quite simply, using our wealth of experience, we could help you create your own unique tour of Ireland. You would enjoy the benefits of an OLM experienced and qualified driver/guide and as with all of our tours we will make all the accommodation arrangements to suit your needs and desires for you.

Day 1, Meet and Greet, and City of Dublin Tour

Upon your arrival at Dublin Airport, your personal driver/guide will meet and greet you and check everything is in order. We'll then take the short journey to your hotel where you'll be able to check-in, leave your luggage and relax whilst the itinerary is discussed and you enjoy some light refreshments. Following this you'll be taken on a guided tour of Dublin. On the tour you will see: Trinity College where the Book of Kells is displayed, the Guinness Storehouse, Phoenix Park - the home of the President of Ireland, Dublin Castle, The River Liffey and the 1860 Ha'penny Bridge, the National Gallery, St. Patrick's Cathedral, the National Museum, the famous GPO, as well as many statues including ones remembering James Joyce and Molly Malone.

Day 2, The Boyne Valley and the Hill of Tara

Your Ireland tour will begin by travelling north into the Boyne Valley to the site where in 1690 one of Ireland's most famous battles took place, a battle that changed Irish history for centuries. From here we will make our way to Newgrange, one of the important passage graves in Europe and which is steeped in mystery. We continue our tour and head for the Hill of Tara where the High Kings of Ireland were seated.

As we make our way back to Dublin, we will visit Malahide Castle and the delightful fishing village of Howth from where spectacular views of the Irish Sea can be seen. You will arrive at your overnight stay in time to unpack and prepare for dinner.

Your overnight accommodation: A choice of quality hotels and guest houses will be offered.

Day 3, Galway and Connemara

Today, we drive to the famous west coast city of Galway. Our first stop will be Birr Castle. After this, we travel through interesting and varied countryside where we arrive in Galway, known as the "City of the Tribesmen". We then travel to the exquisitely beautiful Connemara... said to be one of the last unspoilt areas of Ireland. When you see it, you know exactly why. It's a real Irish treasure. We stay in this area so you'll have time to fully absorb the atmosphere. Enjoy!

Your overnight accommodation: A choice of quality hotels and guest houses will be offered.

Day 4, The Burren and The Cliffs of Moher

Your free morning enables you to browse the streets of Galway city, mingle with the locals and have a relaxing coffee. After lunch, we travel into The Burren; a fascinating region of some 100 square miles of limestone rock with some spectacular views. Shortly afterwards, we visit the Cliffs of Moher that stand some 700 feet above sea level. We continue on through the small villages of Co. Clare to take the short 20 minutes hop across the River Shannon on the Tarbert car ferry to arrive in Co. Kerry. Heading south we pass through some rugged landscapes arriving in the town of Killarney where you'll stay for the next 3 nights.

Your overnight accommodation: A choice of quality hotels and guest houses will be offered.

Day 5, The Ring of Kerry

The tour today has everything that Ireland can offer in magnificent scenery, pure peace and beauty along the Atlantic Ocean. Leaving Killarney we head for Killorglin, where we cross the River Laune on its way to the Atlantic. We will then make our way to the seaside town of Rossbeigh and it's here you get your first view of the Atlantic. Following a coastal route, we then make our way to Cahersiveen where we will take a detour onto the ferry to the Island of Valentia. Here we will visit Fogher Cliffs and where you will absorb even more spectacular, breathtaking Atlantic views.

After our detour, we head back along by the Atlantic Ocean where we come to Waterville, a village famous for its 18-hole golf course, which has a tribute to Payne Stewart, a golfer everyone loved. It's from here we head to the home of Daniel O' Connell - better known in this neck of the woods as the famous Irish liberator. On the way to Derrynane we go over the Coomakista Pass and then on to the pretty award winning village of Sneem. The peace and quietness of Sneem, with its colourful shops, makes it an ideal location for those who wish to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

We are now on the homeward track uphill to Moll's Gap and making our way to Ladies View where we'll stop simply to take it in. This popular view may have derived its name because of the delight expressed by Queen Victoria's ladies-in-waiting on their visit to the spot over 100 years ago. Within minutes, you'll be back in Killarney.

Your overnight accommodation: A choice of quality hotels and guest houses will be offered.

Day 6, Dingle and Slea Head

We leave Killarney and head for the mid Kerry towns of Milltown and Castlemaine where we cross over the River Maine and again head for the Atlantic Ocean which will in view for most of our journey. Our first stop is at the village of Inch with its spectacularly wide beach and where you can take a stroll, or just soak-up the peace of it all. The village of Annascaul is next and where the famous Antarctic explorer, Tom Crean, resided and who trekked through to the South Pole.

We are now nearing Dingle, a bustling coastal town with top quality restaurants, and the home to the most famous aquatic mammal in Ireland, Fungi, the dolphin. We head out over the bridge for Slea Head with Dingle Bay to our left where you will see some of the most rugged terrain along the Kerry coastline as we pass through little villages along the way where only our native tongue is spoken. Across the water, you will see the Blasket Islands and the mountain range of the Mcgillycuddy's Reeks. You'll also see where Ryan's Daughter, starring Robert Mitchum, Trevor Howard and Sarah Miles was filmed. We now head back into Dingle through Ventry and it's on this beach where Far and Away, starring Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman was filmed.

Your overnight accommodation: A choice of quality hotels and guest houses will be offered.

Day 7, Blarney and Kinsale

We depart Killarney and drive to Blarney Woollen Mills and Castle and where you can kiss, "The Stone of Eloquence" or more commonly known as, The Blarney Stone. Onwards we go to the town of Cobh and visit the heritage museum and the dock where the cruise ship, Titanic, made its final berth.

We then find our way to the picturesque medieval coastal town of Kinsale. You will be staying in Kinsale and so you have time to enjoy its pretty streets, the 17th century Charles Fort, take a walk around one of the many whisky distilleries if you wish, before standing on the harbour and looking out to the Celtic Sea. This moment of peace and calm is to be savoured.

Your overnight accommodation: A choice of quality hotels and guest houses will be offered.

Day 8, Waterford and St. Kevin's Monastery

Today, our journey takes you from Kinsale through beautiful countryside to the city of Waterford where we will visit the New House of Waterford Crystal. Waterford Crystal is one of the world's most famous luxury brands. You can wander through the stunning visitor centre and gaze at some of elegant pieces of crystal from a company with a 225 year history. However, if open, we recommend a tour of the crystal factory itself so you see craftsmanship in action.

We say goodbye to Waterford and head for Glendalough to learn about St. Kevin's 6th century monastery in the Visitor Centre and walk through the lovely grounds to see its round towers, church ruins and its notable Celtic crosses. We leave Glendalough and drive north to Dublin through the beautiful and magical Wicklow Mountains.

Your overnight accommodation: A choice of quality hotels and guest houses will be offered.

Day 9, In Dublin's Fair City

Today is your day to explore our capital city further. You can walk the city, or we recommend you take the city tour bus, located near to your hotel, which allows you to get on and off at your desired location or site of interest. Using the city tour bus enables you to see the city's treasures quickly and easily. Alternatively, why not simply take-in Dublin life - pop into a traditional bar, or have a delicious meal specially cooked - the Irish way. The day is yours so you can better acquaint yourself with our capital city and its people.

Your overnight accommodation: A choice of quality hotels and guest houses will be offered.

Day 10, Homeward Bound

Sadly, our time together has quickly come to an end and it's here we say 'slan abhile' (safe home). Your driver will transfer you from your hotel to Dublin Airport and we hope you'll take away many fond memories and photographs of our beautiful island and share them with your family and friends. We look forward to welcoming you again on another tour soon.
